Character Dress-Up Day

Rainey had "character dress-up day" at school yesterday. All of the little kiddos were allowed to wear friendly costumes and bring their favorite book. Rainey was "Curious George". Suits him well! Aden is going to be "little Curious George" this weekend so keep an eye out for more pictures.

Zoo Boo

After all the fun we had at Dewberry Farms last Friday, we decided to go to the Houston Zoo for Zoo Boo. Rainey is at such a fun stage in his little life. I love taking him to these places. He walks around like a big boy exploring and learning. He just isn't afraid of anything. He even listens to us very well when we let him walk without "holding our hands". He is growing up so fast!

Petting zoo...they actually give you brushes to pet the goats.
After a while, Rainey started pulling their tails. Time to go.

Dewberry Farms

What a great time we had this morning!!! The boys and I (along with some other mommies and kiddos) went to Dewberry Farms (http://dewberryfarm.com/dispatch/). Most of you may remember I went there last year when Rainey was about 7 months old. This time, he was walking and having the best time. He fed goats, saw horses, cows, chickens, pigs, you name it. He wasn't afraid of any of them. We went on a hay ride and train ride and walked in the pumpkin patch. In the end, we were all exhausted. Don't forget to read the caption under the "milking cow demonstration". Highlight of my day!

Rainey listening to the farmer talking on the hay ride - what a listener!

He's ready to go!

Milking cow demonstration....
The gentleman told Rainey "this is where your milk comes from." I looked at him and said "Not for the first year." His response, "then I guess your momma knows what it's like to have full utters like her (the cow)". How funny!!

THE END!

Aden update

Aden is 8 1/2 weeks old already. I can't believe it. He is cooing, smiling and laughing. He loves looking at his big brother Rainey. When the lactation nurse was here last week, he weighed just shy of 12 lbs, almost double is birth weight.

For the past two nights, he has slept through the night. Last night, he slept 10 hours and when I got him up this morning to change his diaper, he went right back to sleep on my bed (3rd picture below).

Rainey pointing at the balls on Aden's onesie.

After 10 hours of sleep, still won't wake up.

My little dancer

Rainey has turned into our little dancer. Every time we play music, he begins to dance. His new moves are moving his left shoulder (yes only his left) up and down and moving his legs real fast. Watch him move after he drops the ball.

Look at those cheeks!

I had to do a comparison. Everyone that sees Aden says he looks like Rainey. And they always comment on his cheeks, just like they did with Rainey. The first picture is Aden today and the second picture is Rainey about the same age as Aden. I think Aden has got him beat on the cheeks!

What have we started?

So my last post told you Rainey loves to hold Aden. Well, the next night as we were winding down, getting ready to watch cartoons, I sat down next to Rainey holding Aden and Rainey began to fuss. He wanted Aden in his lap again! He doesn't move an inch when he's holding Aden. The video shows him giving kisses to his little brother. I can't say enough how sweet he is to his little brother. He is going to be his protector!!

Boys in bed

Last night, Chip came home early and we were able to relax together after a long day. After I finished feeding Aden, I placed in him on Rainey's lap while he watched his nighttime cartoons. When I tried to pick him up, Rainey started fussing and wanted me to put him back, so I did four times! Rainey was so good with him. Every now and then, he would rub Aden's head and just smile. What great moments!!

Wide Load

This picture speaks for itself! Rainey is using all of his muscles to move me :)

Date Night

While Chip was out of town this past weekend (at the hunting camp), Becky and Maddy came over Saturday night. I was going to watch Maddy for a couple of hours so Becky could play soccer, but they canceled it whens she got to the field. Here are some cute pics of Rainey and Maddy "hanging out". Maddy is 6 months older than Rainey and loves a younger man. They play so well together. The video at the end is kind of funny :)

Love this pic!

Hold on tight Maddy!!!

September pictures

http://picasaweb.google.com/raineyandaden/September2009#

It's a new day!

Everyone is doing much better. Chip is back to work. Bless his heart, he took a lot of Imodium AD yesterday but made it through the day. As for Rainey, he doesn't have a fever but has two more teeth.

Rainey had "Donuts with Dad" this morning at MDO. From reports, he was a bit cranky but glad to get to his classroom. I get to pick him up in two and a half more hours. I better get some rest.

Aden, he is such a sweetheart! He is starting to coo and smile and is just a wiggle worm. Not quite sleeping through the night, but I know we'll get there at some point.

What a Monday!!

Chip has been sick all weekend. He has had diarrhea and vomiting since Saturday night. I dropped Rainey off at MDO this morning and took Chip to Urgent Care. What a waste of our $45 copay. They can't do anything there....no blood work, x-rays or IV. Based on their "physical exam" of Chip, he has severe dehydration - DUH!! I could have told you that. Anyway, they sent us to the ER. Luckily, I have a friend who is a PA at the ER and they got him right into a room. There were about 15 patients there with flu-like symptoms so I left with Aden as we don't need him to get sick. They have pumped Chip full with fluids and took x-rays and blood work. Hopefully, he can come home soon.

Just as I got home from dropping Chip off, MDO called and said Rainey has a fever of 101 (Chip did not have a fever). I loaded Aden back up and off to pick up Rainey. He felt okay when I got there and showed no other signs of being sick. I checked his temp when we got home. It was 100. He was eating, running around and acting just fine. Did I mention he cut a tooth this morning and has another one coming in? I bet that is why his temp is a little high. Oh, the pediatric dentist told me last week he wouldn't get any more teeth in for a while...not the case. I gave him Tylenol and laid him down for a nap. A few minutes later, he woke up crying with his fingers in his mouth. I laid him on the bed with me and he went back to sleep (the picture below).

Aden and I are feeling great and hope to stay that way. Aden took a nap in his crib for the first time this afternoon. He is sleeping about 5 hours a night so I think we are going to migrate to the crib. We'll work on that this week.

Nature Fest

The family went to Nature Fest this weekend. It was a small festival at a nearby neighborhood community. Rainey rode a pony and played in the petting zoo. It was so hot!!

Stomping Grounds

I tried taking Rainey and Aden to a new place called "Stomping Grounds". It is an indoor playscape with a toddler area, 3+ area, cafe and comfy chairs. Well, we lasted about 15 minutes. Rainey missed his morning nap, thus he was a little cranky, and was adamant about going to the "big kids" area. See what happened in the car on the way home (2nd picture). He feel asleep with his hand in his goldfish bag :) Sorry the picture is blurry....I was trying to take it while driving.
