Today, Rainey got his second haircut. Since the weather has been so warm, I decided to go short and I mean short. Daddy says he looks like a surfer boy :)

Mommy's sick
On Thursday morning, I woke up with intense back and stomach pain. I had chills and sweats all night without a fever. I tried drinking water and threw that up immediately. I called the doctor's office and they told me to come in first thing. I was really worried I might be in pre-term labor because the pain was so bad.
My OB doctor said I have a GI (gastrointestinal) virus which will probably last 24-48 hours. She recommended an IV for fluids. I was admitted to the OB triage at the hospital and received an IV with Stadol (pain reliever) and Finnegan (nausea medicine). I was in the OB unit for about 5 hours then I was able to go home. I slept the rest of the day and most of Friday. Oma flew in Thursday afternoon to help with Rainey (thank goodness!!).
Today, I feel much better. No more pain and I am able to eat and drink. Phew, what a long two days!

Spring Crawfish Festival
On Sunday (04/19/09), we went to the Spring, TX, Crawfish Festival. Unfortunately, Rainey had some sort of reaction to the sunscreen and broke out in a rash all over his face and body. Later that night, he had a fever and the rash kept reoccurring for a few more days.
We went to the dermatologist on Wednesday and found out that he has a "sensitivity" to sunscreen. He has to use a sun"block" with one active ingredient, Titanium Dioxide; not sun"screen" which has additional ingredients. We have been applying a prescription cream and his rash should clear up in 7-10 days. The rash looks pretty miserable but it really didn't bother him.

Easter at Storytime
As usual, Ms. Judy always outdoes herself when it comes to storytime and holidays. This time, she brought in a kiddie pool, filled it with water and ducks. She also blew up about 25 Easter-egg looking balls for the kids to play with. Each one got to take one home. After our rhymes, Rainey found the pool and began splashing until he was soaking wet. He was not happy when we had to leave.

Pacifiers
I am in the process of weaning Rainey from his pacifiers. Right now, he only takes one in his car seat, stroller and at night when going to sleep. I just took the ones off his car seat and this is the result. I don't think he minds!! I was driving down the street and all of a sudden, he started laughing for no apparent reason. It was so funny!
Okay, so the video is a little shaky. I was trying to take this while driving home from lunch. We stopped at Chick-fil-a and oh boy, did he eat! He had a chicken tender, grapes, a few fries, milk, ice cream and half the ice cream cone. As we were leaving, they came around with balloons for all the kids. Here he is playing with it in the car.

Letting go
For the past couple of nights, Rainey has been learning to throw the ball for the dogs. He picks the ball up, puts it over his shoulder, then drops it behind him. With a little help from me, he can throw it in front of him. He gets so excited when the dogs return the ball to him, he starts clapping and bouncing up and down.
This being said, I have been able to use the ball to coax him into letting go of the recliner and walk towards me to get the ball. He can take about two to three steps then falls, and falls hard. Nonetheless, he continues to do it over and over again. He is not afraid of letting go anymore and is always smiling.
Here are two very short videos of him earlier today trying to get a string I am holding. Thanks Natalie, these came from your presents :)
(PS - I'll work on getting a video of him throwing the ball for the dogs.)
